Visible Learning Focus at Port Wakefield Kindergarten

Nature Play at Balaklava CCC

It was their squeals of laughter and animated conversation that drew me near. The children were mixing the soil and water, carting it from one side of the path to the other using the wheel barrows. On the surface it was just a group of children having fun. But their learning was much deeper and richer today because of the Nature Play offered at Balaklava Community Children’s Centre.

Certificate II Automotive Program

In 2017, we have sixteen students from Riverton, Burra, Eudunda and Balaklava participating in a Certificate II program, run through the Elizabeth TAFE. The lecturer travels to the high school each Monday to deliver the program, using the facilities of the RDHS Trade Training Centre.

Presentation Ball

On Friday March 17th, Riverton & District High School held their annual Presentation Ball. The Ball is for year 12 students to dress up in formal attire and be presented to fellow students, family and the community. The theme for this year’s presentation ball was Red & White.

2017 Sporting achievements

RDHS competed in the Interschool Swimming competition held at Clare in Term 1, after our own swimming carnival. With a team of just 30 compared to other schools, Burra, Eudunda, Clare, Balaklava and Horizon, (some had nearly 50 students participating) we did an excellent job and filled almost every event.

Year 8 Day

As part of the transition from Primary School to High School, it is important for students to get to know their Home Group teachers and Coordinator well. We do this by having a Year 8 day where we spend the day together and do some getting to know you activities and work together in groups/pairs.
