Balaklava Primary School

Balaklava Primary has a strong focus on developing the whole child. In addition to sound literacy and numeracy programs, our LOTE subject French and integration of digital technologies, we offer an exceptional music program. Our school values mutual respect, tolerance, success, fair treatment, cooperation, responsibility and honesty. These are reflected in all areas of our school community and our motto Believe, Participate, Succeed encapsulates our attitude to learning and life. Our success as learners at BPS is supported by ensuring we are having fun, are actively engaged, understand the purpose of what we are learning and how our learning will be assessed.

At lunch time, students can choose from a range of programs. In the Library we offer Play at Lunch time (PAL program), beading and lego activities. Our outdoor Nature Play space and Adventure Playground areas are popular locations to explore, create and exercise imagination. Sports equipment is available for use on the oval, four square and basketball courts.

Engaging our students in leadership opportunities is highly valued at BPS and we are proud of the aspiring leaders that we have amongst us.  Students in the Upper Primary have the opportunity to nominate for School and House Captains. The Youth Environmental Leaders project is offered with support of the Natural Resources Northern and Yorke and is coordinated by our Pastoral Care Worker.

In 2017, we welcomed 43 Reception students, new students and their families and new Principal, Dianna Jarman.  If you are interested in learning more about how Balaklava Primary School can cater for your child’s needs, please phone to organise a meeting and a tour.
