Riverton and District High School
Riverton & District High School provides a quality secondary education to students from towns in the Lower Mid North. Our curriculum is dynamic and relevant to the needs of all students, is underpinned by equity and social justice principles and maximises student post school options, preparing them to be active contributors in society. Opportunity is given for students to engage in a broad, balanced course of study, catering for the full range of academic and vocational options. These include university studies, TAFE courses, including the Automotive program through our Trade Training Centre, School Based Apprenticeships and employment.
We also work together to ensure that facilities and equipment are continually improved and upgraded and that learning outcomes for all students are maximised because of a commitment by us all to develop and sustain a learning community.
The school has a focus on visible learning – teachers and students working together to ensure successful learning outcomes, engaged in quality teaching programs with clear learning intentions, using feedback that promotes continual improvement.
We provide opportunities to foster and develop positive relationships; teach and learn about values, attitudes, civics and citizenship; strongly promote tolerance and understanding and reinforce our school community’s commitment to a safe and supportive learning environment. We ensure our curriculum content and structures, as well as methodologies used, accommodate rigorous, relevant and inclusive pathways.
As part of the ethos of our school we have a set of agreed values that permeate everything we do, say and represent. They impact on how we work together as a whole school community and we all understand what each of those elements looks like ‘in action’. We want those values to be ‘lived’, as part of what we do and who we are.
A positive approach, nurturing quality relationships between individuals and clear, respectful communication will give everyone the best opportunity to thrive at school – students, staff and families.
